Introduction to Linocut Workshop
Friday 8th February 2019, 10am – 4pm
Details: Suitable for beginners, this one-day printmaking workshop will focus on linocut printing. Linocut is a form of relief printing that uses linoleum as the printing block (a composite flooring material made from cork and linseed oil with a hessian backing). This is then cut into using v-tools or gouges to make an image. It is a negative technique where the cuts that you make do not print.
In this one day workshops we will spend the morning introducing linocut and working on how to interpret an image through relief print, how to cut the block, transfer a design and also how to print.
In the afternoon we will look to create some finished prints using a design of your own. We will explore using coloured inks, work with colour blends and creating shapes out of lino that can be repeated.
No previous experience of printmaking is necessary – just bring along a few ideas or images to work with and we will help you do the rest.
Taught by Amazon bestselling author Susan Yeates (for Learning Linocut). Susan is also author to a NEW Search Press book A Beginner’s Guide to Linocut, published in Nov 2018.
