Learn Wood Engraving @ Woking, Surrey, 7th April 2018
Date: Saturday 7th April 2018, 2pm – 5pm
Details: Suitable for beginners, this afternoon printmaking workshop will focus on learning wood engraving. Wood engraving is a very fine and detailed relief printing technique and involves carving into the end-grain of a piece of wood. It is a negative technique where the cuts that you make do not print. We will explore different ways to interpret an image through wood engraving, carving into the block and also how to print. Wood engraving is great for working at home in a small space.
Combine With Woodcut!
This afternoon workshop can be combined with the morning workshop running on the same day in the same venue (10am-1pm) – Learn Woodcut. The two printmaking workshops combined will introduce and explore the similarities and differences between woodcut and wood engraving.
No previous experience of printmaking is necessary – just bring along a few ideas or images to work with and we will help you do the rest.
