Learn Woodcut Printing with Susan!
Saturday 14th March 2014 – 9.30am – 12.30pm
We are welcoming Susan from Magenta Sky (www.magenta-sky.com) to Sayers Croft for a day of printmaking. Woodcut is a type of relief printing created by using a piece of wood as the block that you cut into using metal gouges. With relief printing, the material that is removed does not print, therefore making it a negative mark-making technique. Once the cuts have been made the wood block is inked up using a roller and then printed onto paper. This three hour workshop will be a short introduction to the technique including preparing your image, cutting into the block and printing a small woodcut print. No experience necessary – all abilities welcome – just bring along a couple of ideas to work with and a lot of enthusiasm! You can also book onto our afternoon session and make a whole day of it. Tea/coffee and biscuits provided. All materials included.
