As some of you may have spotted from my social media posts, whilst on maternity leave, I spent the early part of this year creating a brand new Linocut book with the help of the wonderful team at Search Press. I was literally cutting lino on the dining room table in the evening whilst looking after a baby in the day. Both a labour of love and this creative book-baby is now nearly ready to launch into the world…

A Beginners Guide to Linocut
10 print projects with top techniques to get you started

I am super-excited to announce that things have sped up just a little and the new linocut book is now available for pre-orders from my website here:

All the hard work is done – linocutting, writing, editing, photography, proof reading and the publishers are in the process of getting the book printed as I write.

What Does Pre-Ordering the Book Mean?

This basically means that you can order your copy of Beginners Guide to Linocut before it has even reached the shelves of shops and craft stores. Plus, as you will be buying directly from the author (little old me) I will sign each copy before I post it out. You will be the first to order and receive copies of these brand new books as they come into the UK in November 2018.

About The Book

This book is a practical guide to creating linocut prints suitable for beginners as well as experienced artists. It combines technique-based projects that practice your cutting and image interpretation skills with creating unique handmade gifts. There are loads of high quality images, stey-by-step guides and even templates for you to work through as you learn linocutting. It has been a joy to create, so much fun and I am so happy that this is so near to publishing now, after 2 years in the pipeline!

Book Description

“Learn to create beautiful and practical linocut prints at home with this contemporary guide to a well-loved traditional art form.

Linocut and screenprinting have undergone a resurgence in recent years. This book teaches the basic techniques for learning to make your own prints under the guidance and tutelage of expert teacher and artist Susan Yeates.

Susan, who runs her own print business, Magenta Sky, explains the rudiments of linocutting, and guides you through ten practical and attainable projects including greeting cards, artworks to frame, labels for jam jars, seed packets and bags or tea towels to print and give as personalised presents. There are handy tips and suggestions throughout the book to help you with your printing.”

More About the Book

Over the next few months I will share more images, blogs and extracts from the book so you can see a little more about what is included and how it was created.

But for now here is the link again to pre-order the book from my website:

If you have any questions or wish to stock the book in your shop / studio when it is published in November then please email and I can let you know wholesale details etc.
