Learn Woodcut @ Woking, Surrey, 7th April 2018
Date: Saturday 7th April 2018, 10am – 1pm
Details: Suitable for beginners, this morning printmaking workshop will focus on learning simple one-colour woodcut printing. Woodcut involves cutting into the side plank of a piece of wood using gouges often creating bold designs. It is a negative technique where the cuts that you make do not print. We will also explore different ways to interpret an image through woodcut print, cutting the block, transferring a design and also how to print.
Woodcut is great for working at home in a small space.
Combine With Wood Engraving!
This morning workshop can be combined with the afternoon workshop running on the same day in the same venue (2-5pm) – Learn Wood Engraving! The two printmaking workshops combined will introduce and explore the similarities and differences between woodcut and wood engraving.
No previous experience of printmaking is necessary – just bring along a few ideas or images to work with and we will help you do the rest.
