I am rather excited to finally share with you a secret project that I have been working on for the past six months.

As well as teaching workshops, creating my own prints and working on a practical follow up book to Learning Linocut, I have been writing a printmaking business book.

So what is a printmaking business book?

My favourite spot for writing this book!

Well, it is a book designed for creative people that enjoy printmaking to help turn their creative skills into a profitable part-time or full-time business. It shares all of my experiences here at Magenta Sky where I have been selling my own work as well as teaching all the courses and workshops that I teach. The book also talks about marketing and running your own business… in fact I cover quite a lot of things!

Let me share with you my new book (which is currently in draft form) – Profit From Printmaking.

Book Synopsis

“Profit from Printmaking explores how printmaking can be turned from a relaxing and creative hobby into an enjoyable business enterprise. Take a moment to imagine:

  • People actually buying the artwork that you create
  • A life where being a printmaker actually pays the bills (or at least your materials bill!)
  • Teaching your printmaking skills to others and getting paid to do it!

This book is written by printmaker, tutor and Amazon No. 1 bestselling author of Learning Linocut, Susan Yeates. Susan will take your creative printmaking skills and teach you all you need to know about selling your work, marketing yourself and teaching successful workshops and courses.

Profit from Printmaking is packed full of practical tips and information and covers:

  • Types of products that you could create through printmaking
  • Preparing your work for sale
  • Ways that you can sell your work
  • Marketing yourself and your work
  • How to run great printmaking courses
  • Tips on running your own business
  • Plus much, much more!

Within this book Susan shares her practical printmaking experience and business acumen to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of how to profit from printmaking – and enjoy yourself along the way!”

The editing has begun!

This book is suitable for any printmaker, whether amateur or professional who wishes to find out more about how to sell their work, promote themselves or run successful printmaking courses. Whether you want to do this part-time in addition to another job or become totally self-employed and create your own business from something that you love, there will be something in here to help you!

So When Will This Book Be Published?

As I said, the book is currently in draft format – so far I have around 66,000 words awaiting editing and proofreading. I am also in the process of seeking case studies and interviews with successful printmakers and teachers so that I can share their experiences with you as well.

I aim to finish editing the book by the end of the year and launch in early 2017.
