Q. What if I have never done any drawing before?

It doesn’t matter at all! The aim of the game is to simply do some drawing and creativity every day for 30 days – to build up the habit of sketching and tap into the creative side of your brain. This is great for mindfulness and for switching off. The quality of the drawing is not important – it’s all about having fun.

Q. What if I miss a day?

Don’t worry and try not to be too hard on yourself. This is supposed to be a fun and creative experience, so if you miss a day, don’t give up, just open up your sketchbook and do two days in one! We are all human (well I hope you are anyway!) and forgetting is very easy, especially if this is the first time you have done a challenge like this.

Q. How long do I need to spend on each sketch?

This is entirely up to you. Some days you may only have a minute or two and you do some very rough or loose sketches. Other days you may find that a subject really captures your imagination and you spend much longer or complete several pages of drawings. Anything goes. The only thing I ask is that you do SOMETHING every day.

Q. What if I don’t like my drawings?

Oh my, we are all our own worst critics! It really doesn’t matter what you draw, what matters IS that you draw and that you enjoy the process. Think about the process not perfection. Don’t feel pressured that you have to share your work with us all. You can keep it private and just enjoy the daily sketching. Or… turn the page and do another drawing. Practice makes perfect!!

Q. What if I don’t like the prompt?

Hmmm, some days you may find the prompts harder to do or even you just don’t like them (trust me there are a few that I may struggle with too). However, that is part of what makes this a challenge – I am choosing the prompts and exercises for you and it will be challenging your creative skills as well as building up your drawing repertoire. Just give it a go even if it is just a rough sketch or doodle and know that there is another prompt coming tomorrow which may set your creative juices flowing instead!

Q. Do I need to join the Facebook Group?

Nope – this is entirely optional. To get the full experience however and to keep yourself motivated I highly recommend joining our community of challengers! It will be a great place to meet other creatives and connect with people worldwide. In the Group you can see what others have done and speak to me as well. I will be sharing Facebook Lives to speak to everyone and help you keep going for the full 30 days. However, if you don’t use Facebook or don’t want to join the group then that is fine too. Maybe just set up a WhatsApp group with your friends and family to stay connected?
